Demonstration in Tel Aviv by Yahel Galili – Israel [PHOTO ESSAY]

To mark 50 years of Israel’s ongoing occupation of the West Bank, a large rally was held in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square.

Left wing politicians, artists and organization leaders got on stage to speak for peace and against the current government’s choice not to promote it.

1- Largely unpopular leader of the opposition, Yitzhak “Bougie” Herzog, speaks to echoing boos from the crowd. 2- An unimpressed audience booing Herzog’s speech.
3- As has become customary in left wing assemblies, a small group of right wing extremists came to form a counter protest by cursing at the other side.
4- The two states solution symbolized perfectly by the two flags being raised side by side.
5- Along with the hope expressed tonight by a crowd of around 15,000, a growing sense of disillusionment grips many in the Israeli left.
